An ongoing project documenting life on board the SS Wilfred Sykes. The Sykes is a freighter on the Great Lakes carrying iron ore and limestone to various steel mills. Sailing since 1949, she is one of the oldest freighters on the Lakes and is one of the only remaining steam powered vessels. She is also home to the only female Captain navigating the treacherous waters.
